What does the Japanese Sushi for Two include?

How great would it be if to conjure up something really different for that bunch of friends that are hard to please! This cookery course brings you 2.5 hours of private tuition for two people to learn the secrets of making fabulous Sushi!

On arrival you will receive a welcome briefing and refreshments before being shown basic ingredients and cooking techniques. You will make Sushi Rice, cut the fish (sashimi) and make accompanying dips and several types of sushi.

Edomae-zushi or Nigiri-zushi ~ pieces of raw fish over vinegared rice balls. Temaki or hand rolls ~ hand-rolled cones made from nori, sushi rice and ingredients. Inverted Sushi ~ ie with the rice outside, rolling with climgfilm and the mat and dousing with sesame seeds. Tamago ~ Beef steak marinated in teriyaki sauce, cooked, cooled, thinly sliced, then spread with sushi rice etc and rolled in thin omelette. Tazuna-sushi ~ This is again an inverted sushi (rice outside/clingfim technique). They are quite a large diameter and prawns, omelette, cucumber etc are pressed into the outside.

Are there any restrictions?

You will spend most of the time cooking – and therefore will be on your feet – please wear comfortable shoes! Cuts and abrasions must be properly covered to meet hygiene regulations. Any colds, stomach upsets, flu symptoms must be declared to meet hygiene regulations. Please advise any food allergies – gluten, nuts, shellfish, etc – at the time of booking your course. Please advise any lifestyle choices at time of booking – vegetarian, vegan, no pork, no red meat etc. There is no upper age limit. Serious young cooks (from 10 years upwards) will be accepted if accompanied by one parent.
